This isn't the typical action scene pulp cover, but I fell in love with the sporting pulp covers and I decided to go more along the lines of that. I wanted to make a more vintage style cover, so I used mostly pastel colors along with the red to help blend the colors of his jersey with the background. I took the picture of the baseball player at bat during one of our schools baseball games this season the cropped him out of the picture and added him to my background.
"The experimental test of whether the art is good or great, or mirror or abysmal, is the effect it has on your own sense of the world and of yourself. Great art changes you."

This quote is basically saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What one person see's as great art, another might see as trash.

Art Start

"All of us must eventually do what the matador does; go out and face not only the bull, but the crowd. It does the matador little good, provides him little satisfaction to make beautiful passes alone in a moonlit pasture." -Chuck Jones

I took the classic Disney story "The Little Mermaid" and changed it to what I always interpreted it to be like. Ariel was a "rebel" in the story, so I showed what I believed she would look like as a modern 'rebel" american teenager. I used acrylic paint and paper for this project. I hope to put it in Photoshop and continue to make my piece better.

"Clock strikes 12. You have to hurry before everything changes. What do you leave behind?"

I suppose I'd leave my phone or an electronic device so I could be communicated with.

"Before Alice got to Wonderland she had to fall pretty hard down a deep hole."

To me, this quote is basically saying things have to become worse before they become great. One door has to close before another one can open.
