This isn't the typical action scene pulp cover, but I fell in love with the sporting pulp covers and I decided to go more along the lines of that. I wanted to make a more vintage style cover, so I used mostly pastel colors along with the red to help blend the colors of his jersey with the background. I took the picture of the baseball player at bat during one of our schools baseball games this season the cropped him out of the picture and added him to my background.
"The experimental test of whether the art is good or great, or mirror or abysmal, is the effect it has on your own sense of the world and of yourself. Great art changes you."

This quote is basically saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What one person see's as great art, another might see as trash.

In honor of softball season coming to an end yesterday, I photoshoped myself onto a major league baseball field. So throwback to the MLB

Art Start

"All of us must eventually do what the matador does; go out and face not only the bull, but the crowd. It does the matador little good, provides him little satisfaction to make beautiful passes alone in a moonlit pasture." -Chuck Jones

I took the classic Disney story "The Little Mermaid" and changed it to what I always interpreted it to be like. Ariel was a "rebel" in the story, so I showed what I believed she would look like as a modern 'rebel" american teenager. I used acrylic paint and paper for this project. I hope to put it in Photoshop and continue to make my piece better.

"Clock strikes 12. You have to hurry before everything changes. What do you leave behind?"

I suppose I'd leave my phone or an electronic device so I could be communicated with.

"Before Alice got to Wonderland she had to fall pretty hard down a deep hole."

To me, this quote is basically saying things have to become worse before they become great. One door has to close before another one can open.

"It's word of laughter, it's a world of tears. It's a world of hopes, It's a world of fear. There's so much that we share, That it's time we're aware. It's a small world after all."

My make up was super creepy, although the editing on this version kinda takes that away, so with the help of my aunt I took a picture similar to Angelina Jolie's character in the movie "Maleficent". With the help of photoshop, and an apple, I created a spooky image of myself.

Shakespeare

Our quotes of the day today, was on of my favorites by the wonderful Shakespeare, which read, "Love all, Trust a few, Do wrong to none." In my opinion, it's one of the best quotes to live by. It kind of relates to the saying "keep your friends closer and your enemies closer" in the way that, you should be nice to everyone and show kindness to everyone regardless of their past or what they're doing. Don't willingly trust everyone, because you never know who else they're repeating your information and telling things about you to them. No matter how much you dislike someone of disapprove of someone, don't do things that cause harm or pain to them. Let life, or karma as might say, take it's course. I'm a firm believer in "what goes around comes around".

This is my sandman piece! I drew the man with just pencil and paper, then found a lovely picture of an Egyptian statue, copy and pasted it, then customized it. I split the image into three layers in Adobe Photoshop, then changed the opacity to 62% so that the image became transparent. I wanted the image to look older to add more of the ancient Egypt feeling, so I took away the image in some areas, and added a torn texture.
This morning when I came into class this morning, the quote "Follow your dreams" was on the white bored with the word CANCELLED over it. It was created by a great street artist, and it is a pretty cool piece. Honestly, this quote could represent multiple things,  but when I read it, it made me think of all the obstacles that stand in the way of your goals. CANCELLED represents your struggle on your way to prosper.

Here is the finished piece with color! Sorry it's sideways, I'm not really sure why, but it wouldn't flip. I used chalk for her skin, and water-color colored pencils for everything else. the black and white shading is still there, I just went over it and added a little more.
Here is the black and white version of my drawing before I added color. I saw a drawing similar on WeHeartIt and fell in love, so I changed a lot up, and re created the drawing.

I just imagined what Jourdan thinks about while inventing something marvelous.
